Question: Isn't it safer for the person
I'm caring for to stay in bed?
Answer: Although that is a common strategy for safety, you may be
putting the person in a high danger and risk category for further
complications, such as bed sores, depression, decline in functional
abilities. It may result in a person becoming more intensive to care for.
Question: I have been using a trapeze to
help with bed mobility. How is the
(OB) mobility tool different?
Answer: A trapeze was not designed to be, nor intended to be used
as, a tool for bed mobility. It is known to cause unnecessary strain on
the shoulders, it may cause chafing, and is not effective for complete bed
mobility (i.e. sitting up, sitting edge of bed, turning and positioning).
Question: Why is the
mobility tool
so different than other tools used for Bed Mobility?
Answer: The OB is a "grab bar" for the bed, and was designed for
the sole purpose of having a tool for safe and effective Bed Mobility when
used as directed. Most other tools are a variation of a side rail, a tool
designed in the 1900's to keep people in bed. It often acts as a barrier
for a person to "work" around. The OB was designed to "work" around the
user and the caregiver, in all aspects of Bed Mobility.
Question: How do I know if the OB is the
right Bed Mobility tool for my unique and specific need(s)?
Answer: The OB can be beneficial to all who need of some form of
Bed Mobility, weather it be temporary or long-term, from simple recovery
to a permanent disability, a broken leg or a missing limb. The OB is the
right choice when selecting a tool for bed mobility in a home setting.
Question: What if the OB doesn't work
with my style of bed?
Answer: The OB is designed to be compatible with any home-style
bed. It's unique attachment features allow for attachment to a home-style
bed frame, the floor, and even the wall. There is an attachment option
that is right for you.
Question: Why is it called the
mobility tool?
Answer: The OB can get you
, and in some cases even
eliminate, the need for caregiver assistance with bed mobility. Our
company name reflects some of our goals which is to provide you with an
Invisible CareGiver®. The OB
can act as that helping hand usually provided by a caregiver, offering
independent bed mobility to the user. The easy lift off feature and
minimal appearance can even mask the fact that the need for assistance
even exists.
Question: Who will teach me how to use the OB after it is installed?
Answer: The OB is simple to understand and even more simple to use. It may take a few days to get used to having it, once you use it you can't imagine living without it. The OB also comes with a helpful user manual, explaining Bed Mobility and the most common uses.
Question: Will I be able to assemble and
install the OB myself?
Answer: The OB can be assembled and installed in a few easy steps.
You will need to lift the box spring a few inches if you do a bed
installation to install the brackets. Otherwise you can roll the bed frame
up to the OB to put the wheel on top of the stand base.
